accidental rants and PRIDE

Hello my dears and happy Pride month ! Helsinki Pride was last week and I volunteered there for first time this year ! The Pride Parade had the most participants ever in Finland, about 20 000 people marching for freedom. It was amazing to be part of that. Walking in the parade always fills me with so much power and love.

We are brave, we are proud & we will not give in !

Pride is important to me for various reasons. It's a celebration yes, but the most important thing about it is commemorating Stonewall Inn riots. I highly recommend educating yourself about amazing people such as Sylvia Rivera & Marsha P. Johnson, & Brenda Howard.

Also, important reminder for everyone: Even if it's okay to shorten the LGBTQIPA to a less lettery mess of LGBT, remember that those last letters are not there just for fun. It's important not to erase sexualities and identities just because you can't be bothered or haven't heard of them.Of course, as we are individuals and most of us do not really fit under one term and we need not. Many of these are umberella terms so if you hear Y person is X it doesn't necessary mean they are exactly what it says on the tin. It's ridiculous and silly to govern other peoples identities, so please for fucks sake do never tell other person their identity isn't valid.
One would think that's be common sense. One would also think it'd be obvious why Pride isn't about cisgendered straight people. Have you been opressed for your sexuality or gender ? Have heterosexuals been systematically killed & had to live in fear for their safety every time they express their sexuality? Have cisgendered people been murdered, threatened & shamed for their gender identity ? Is it still happening right now ? Didn't think so. Newsflash: Heterophobia doesn't exist. Check your privilege.
